APRIL NEWS

"April showers bring May flowers" so the old saying goes. The calendar says its April and we have already passed the first day of spring so whats with the cold and snow? I am so ready for Spring! For those who really know me know that I do not tolerate the snow at least in the valley. I love to see it on our mountains but the thought of slippery roads, slick sidewalks and all else that goes with bad weather just does not make me happy. So bring on the good weather, lots of sunshine and warm days!!!
I know that Spring is really just waiting for us around the corner. Its baseball time, in fact the first Bees game of the season is this Thursday. I love being at the baseball games, even though the old Derks Field has been made over I still have such great memories of going to a Bees game with Grandpa and Grandma VomBaur. Grandpa loved to sit on the third base side just right of home plate. We always had Cracker Jacks and a coke. Grandpa was a real baseball lover, if there was a game being broadcast either on the radio or TV he was tuned in. He's the one who taught both Pam and myself "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" song, sometimes I can still here him singing it to us. Those were happy days!
Speaking of baseball, we went to Braeden's first ball game of the season. He's played other years on teams but this year its so exciting to watch him play, He made two outs for his team and made it on base each time he was up to bat. It's exciting to watch his talent grow. GO BRAEDEN !!!
Another sign of spring is bike riding. Just this weekend Talan (age 3) came riding up to our house on a two wheeler minus the training wheels. This is awesome!!! I don't know of another three year old who is riding a two wheeler, do you?

WELCOME HOME RICHARD! We are so happy to have Richard home after his month of being in South Carolina. I think the one thing I have missed more about Richard is when I am cooking dinner, usually on Sunday, and he walks in and starts to nibble on whatever is out. I love to watch him and his cute little smile when I catch him nibbling. May he always feel comfortable in my home that he will continue to make me smile with his nibbling.

Heather and Cody have been working on remodeling their basement by putting a bedroom downstairs for Braeden. It's coming along nicely they are now ready for the carpet. Braeden is excited about having his own room. I am sure we will find signs on his door with "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" and maybe one "NO LITTLE BROTHERS ALLOWED". He is growing up so fast.

Matt has asked Grandpa to baptize him this June. We are happy that he has made the choice to be baptized. Jaymi is going to make this a special day for him just as she did a year ago for Taylor.

Here's hoping that my May blog will be full of many happy hours spend outside while enjoying our SPRING OF 2009
