Well, at least it's not the end of the month before I update my blog. It's been a busy February. This month we have three family birthdays. Ashlee turned four on the 8th, Steve celebrated another year closer to retirement, and in just a week Lexee will be turning seven. It's been a tradition that we buy the grandkids their birthday cakes. Once again, Ashlee requested a "TinkerBell" cake. You would think that she would move on. Nope she is probably "Tink's" biggest fan. Lexee isn't much for cake so she is toying with doing an ice cream bar, we have a week before she has to finalize her pans.
Today, was "Grandparents Day" at the elementary school. Steve and I both took the day off from work to spend some time with Braeden, Taylor, Matt and Lexee. (It's a good thing they were all at the same school) We were able to visit each of their classes and have lunch with two of them. The school even took a picture of the kids with their grandparents , it was a special day. I was glad to be able to spend the time with the kids and to observe how they are being taught. One word...Interesting!!!! Hopefully Dani's school will have a Grandparents Day as well. Things are hopping this month...Heather is remodeling her basement to give Braeden his own room. It is coming along and I have no doubts that it will be done long before the baby gets here. Steph is recovering from her unlucky month of January and so far, at least, February is an improvement. For those who follow Steph's blog know that sometime this year Richard will be leaving for Iraq. I believe they are looking at November for his deployment. This will be a big adjustment for the entire family. Richard is such an asset to this family and he will be greatly missed not only by his wife and children but by his extended family. I believe that Dani will have the hardest time adjusting. The last time Richard was gone, she worried and missed her dad somethings terrible. He is leaving in March for a month long tour in South Carolina, again with the Army. This will be a preview of how the Hastings will survive without him. Steph is strong and I know that this will not be easy for her. I know that she has great faith that the Lord will watch over Richard and bring him safely back to his family. Jaymi is keeping busy with her job, when she is on call it's an never ending job, It's a good thing she hears the phone ring when she is asleep. I did not realize until lately how many people are counting on her. It's not unusual to have her leave the dinner table to take a call or have her pull over while driving to take a call. I have seen a big change in Tay and Matt since they do not go to a licensed day care after school. Heather devotes a great deal of her time to do homework with Taylor and Matt before Jaymi gets off work. With running girls to dance once a week and being in the Primary she leads a very busy life. I get tired of just thinking what she accomplishes in one day. We have finally convinced Talan that his little BROTHER will be called TYSON, not a sister named Krista.
