New Year, New Hopes

Happy New Year to my family and all those who view my blog!
I would like to say I will be making a resolution to do a blog at least once each month.
Here is an update:
Christmas 2008
As usual Christmas was both exciting and stressful. I was looking forward to having the kids over the Christmas Eve dinner as well as brunch on Christmas Day. All the grandchildren were excited to have a visit from Santa and really weren't too interested in eating. We played (or at least tried ) to play a game that had been a tradition in the family since the girls were little. This lasted maybe ten minutes. By the time the kids were ready to leave the snow was quite deep.
About noon the girls and their families arrived, all the kids talking at once to tell us what Santa had left them. I think Santa did pretty good this year.
Grandpa was excited to give Taylor, Braeden,Lexee and Dani a special gift. They each were given an Ipod with their names engraved on them and Grandpa had downloaded over 100 songs.
They spent most of the time at our house with headphones on and singing to their music. I think they were both surprised and thrilled to receive their IPODS. Matt received Lego set which he quietly slipped downstairs to play with. He is very good with his hands. Ashlee received a BabyAlive from Santa and to go along with her baby she received a doll high chair. (That poor baby was
fed and changed a dozen times) Talan asked for a new scooter since he wore his old one out and we were successful in full filling his request. He rode it downstairs since there was too much snow outside. Parker was given bath toys, Steph says bath time can be a bit of a challenge, he wants to climb out so maybe he will stay in the tub a little longer with the toys. Heather and Cody asked for a camp stove and Porta potty..anyone who knows Heather, knows she is keen on prepardness and thus she now has two more items to add to her collection. Steph and Richard needed a new microwave.Jaymi received clothes and a vegtable steamer.
I surprised Steve with a smoker. I must say he has used this a couple of times already and my favorite has been the smoked turkey he did for New Years Day.
On Tuesday night, when Richard was getting the girls ready for bed, Ashlee fell of Dani's bunkbed and broke her wrist. Richard checked it out he did not think it was broken but by morning (new Years Eve) she was still complaining and it was swollen so Steph and Ashlee made a trip to the ER. To top off Steph and Richards New Year holiday Steph hit a deer on her way home from work. I hope this is not the way 2009 is going to be for the Hastings!

Picture was taken on our last cruise to the Caribbean, last September. This was by far the best cruise we have taken, everything was perfect. Can't wait until our next cruise.
